Staff Picks Feb 22/13

The following is a list of Albums (CD/LP) that I think you ought to check out. They are in no particular order.

01) Love - "Forever Changes"... available on Compact Disc (Used)

This album ranges from peaceful melodies to raging fuzz and pounding drums. One of those albums that sounds best listened all the way through.

02) King Khan & BBQ Show - "What's For Dinner"... available on Vinyl (Sealed)

These two gents are out there but very fun to listen to. They create a two man wall of sound with Mark Sultan (BBQ Show) playing a kick, snare, guitar, and vocals and King Khan playing guitar, and vocals. If you dig all those old rock'n'roll classics you may fall in love with two noise makers.

03) Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "II"... available on Vinyl & Compact Disc (Sealed)

This is the second release from this band. They are a great three piece that have a psych-pop take on song writing. I'm always a sucker for this kind of band.

04) Melody's Echo Chamber - "Melody's Echo Chamber"... available on Vinyl (Sealed)

A collaborative between French song-writer Melody Prochet and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker (Tame Impala). Melody creates the pretty melodies and Parker filters them through his psychedelic machines. End result...

05) T.Rex - "The Slider"... available on Compact Disc (Used)

A glam rock classic.

07) Arthur Brown - "The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown"... available on Vinyl (Used)

I don't know what it is about this album... Horns, organ, and crazy vocals, I find this album silly at times but I always play it start to finish and gosh golly I really dig it.

08) Metz - "Metz"... available on Vinyl (Sealed)

If you came in the store recently and asked what new release I'd recommend, I probably said Metz. I saw these guys at Sappy Fest last summer and they've logged their groovey punk rock in my brain. If you enjoy anything loud you've got to check them out.

10) Jeff The Brotherhood - "We Are The Champions"... available on Vinyl & Compact Disc

Jeff The Brotherhood are a two piece who make fun garage rock. They have a new release titled "Hypnotic Nights" which is great but something about "We Are The Champions" that sticks with me.
